Remind Me (Dorothy Fields and Jerome Kern song)

"Remind Me" is a 1940 song composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics written by Dorothy Fields.

It was written in 1936 for the unproduced Universal film "Riviera", which was based on the Earl Derr Biggers novel "Love Insurance.""Abbott and Costello in Hollywood" by Bob Furmanek and Ron Palumbo. Perigee Books. 1990. Years later the novel was re-adapted for the film One Night in the Tropics (1940), and the same Kern and Fields score was used."Abbott and Costello in Hollywood" by Bob Furmanek and Ron Palumbo. Perigee Books. 1990. The film was widely regarded as a flop, although it marked the movie debut of Abbott and Costello.{{cite book |last1=Hirschhorn |first1=Clive |title=The Hollywood Musical |date=1981 |publisher=Octopus Books |location=London |isbn=0-7064-1280-X |page=183}} The song was virtually thrown away in an early scene{{cite book |last1=Hischak |first1=Thomas S. |title=The Jerome Kern Encyclopedia |date=2013 |publisher=Scarecrow Press |location=Lanham, Maryland, USA |isbn=978-0810891678 |page=163}} as it was introduced by Peggy Moran (who was dubbed by an unknown singer).{{cite web |title=Internet Movie Database |url=https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032873/soundtrack?ref_=tt_trv_snd |website=imdb.com |accessdate=April 29, 2019}} Only one commercial recording in 1940 can be traced and that was the one by Leo Reisman and his Orchestra (Victor 27237).{{cite web |title=The Online Discographical Project |url=http://www.78discography.com/vic27000.html |website=78discography.com |accessdate=April 29, 2019}} It was not a hit.
