History
Ressen was first mentioned in 1150 as Rexnam. The etymology is unknown and may not be Germanic.{{cite web|url=https://etymologiebank.nl/trefwoord/ressen |title=Ressen - (geografische naam) |website=Etymologiebank |access-date=22 March 2022 |language=nl |quote=Reference from the 7th century was a forgery}} In 1840, it was home to 200 people. In 1997, a part of Ressen was transferred to Nijmegen for the {{ill|Waalsprong|nl}} neighbourhood. For a short period, it had the place name Ressen (Nijmegen), however it has become an integral part of the new neighbourhood.{{cite web|url=https://www.plaatsengids.nl/ressen |title=Ressen |website=Plaatsengids |access-date=22 March 2022 |language=nl}}
