Reversal of Man is a hardcore punk band from Tampa, Florida that formed in 1995. The band is associated with the late 1990s screamo movement{{cite web|last1=Kaminski (March 1, 2017)|first1=Karol|title=90's Hardcore Icon Reversal Of Man Reissue Discography|url=http://www.idioteq.com/90s-hardcore-icons-reversal-of-man-re-issue-their-discography/|website=idioteq.com|date=March 2017 |publisher=Idioteq|access-date=May 7, 2017}} and noted for bordering on powerviolence and grindcore.{{cite journal |date=September 22, 2010 |last= Greg|first= Pratt|title= Altered States, Grindcore Special part 2|journal=Terrorizer |issue=181 |page= 43|publisher=Miranda Yardley |location=United Kingdom |quote= Another interesting sub-subgenre was this strange crossover of first-generation emo and grind. Bands like Reversal of Man or Orchid may not have stood the test of time, but it was a pretty cool sound at the time and one that was pretty uniquely American}} The group's lyrical content was often political,{{cite web|last1=Preira (March 27, 2013)|first1=Matt|title=Top Ten Best Screamo Bands From Florida|url=http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/music/ten-best-screamo-bands-from-florida-6436756/2|website=browardpalmbeach.com|publisher=Broward Palm Beach New Times|access-date=May 7, 2017}} and the group initially formed as a reaction to the then-growing underground nazi punk scene in Florida.{{cite web|last1=Macomber (March 8, 2017)|first1=Shawn|title="Get The Kid With The Sideburns": 90's Metallic Hardcore Greats Reversal Of Man Talk 5 Classic Tracks|url=http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2017/3/8/reversal-of-man|website=decibelmagazine.com|publisher=Decibel Magazine|access-date=May 7, 2017}}

During their existence, the band toured frequently across the United States as well as parts of Europe. Vocalist Matt Coplon was known for taping his microphone to his hand in order to not lose it during spastic performances.{{cite web|last1=Butler|first1=Blake|title=Reversal Of Man - Discography Review|url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/discography-mw0000973145|website=allmusic.com|publisher=Allmusic Guide|access-date=May 7, 2017}} The band were signed onto Ebullition Records for the release of their sole full-length This Is Medicine in 1999 after label operator Kent McClard found out about them through their split 12-inch with Holocron.{{Cite web |last=Julien |first=Alexandre |author-link=Alexander Julien |date=June 28, 2014 |title=Intention Records Interview |url=http://www.abridgedpause.com/intentionrecords |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200905210720/http://www.abridgedpause.com/intentionrecords |archive-date=September 5, 2020 |access-date=September 5, 2020 |website=Abridged Pause Blog |language=en-US}} Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré has described This Is Medicine as one of his favorite albums.{{cite web|last1=Ozzi (September 13, 2016)|first1=Dan|title=Ten Underrated Hardcore Records According to Touché Amoré's Jeremy Bolm|url=https://www.vice.com/en/article/ten-underrated-hardcore-records-according-to-touche-amores-jeremy-bolm/|website=noisy.vice.com|date=September 13, 2016 |publisher=Vice|access-date=May 7, 2017}}
