The Revolutionary Democratic Front ({{langx|es|Frente Democrático Revolucionario}}, FDR) was a coalition of mass organizations in El Salvador. It was aligned with the FMLN guerrilla movement in the Salvadoran Civil War. The FDR was formed in 1980, through the merger of the Salvadoran Democratic Front and the Revolutionary Mass Coordination, itself an alliance of the People's Revolutionary Bloc, the People's Liberation Movement, the February 28 Popular Leagues, the Unified Popular Action Front, and the Union of Democratic Nationalists.{{Cite web |url=http://www.libros.com.sv/edicion66/fdr.html |title=FDR: Un nuevo frente para un nuevo El Salvador |language=es |trans-title=RDF: A new front for a new El Salvador |access-date=13 April 2025 |archive-date=8 March 2007 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070308125112/http://www.libros.com.sv/edicion66/fdr.html}} In 1987, the constituent organizations rebranded as the Democratic Convergence Party{{Cite web |url=https://revistadigital.sre.gob.mx/index.php/rmpe/article/download/1837/1677 |title=Guerra civil en El Salvador y esfuerzos para alcanzar la paz |language=es |trans-title=Civil war in El Salvador and efforts to achieve peace |access-date=13 April 2025 |archive-date=26 August 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240826173716/https://revistadigital.sre.gob.mx/index.php/rmpe/article/download/1837/1677}} and participated in politics legally for the first time in the 1991 election, receiving 12.16% of the vote.{{cite book |last=Nohlen |first=Dieter |date=2005 |title=Elections in the Americas: A data handbook, Volume I |page=284 |isbn=978-0-19-928357-6}}
