Rhaphium is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. Etymology

The generic name Rhaphium is derived from the Ancient Greek word {{lang|grc|ῥάφιον}} ({{transliteration|grc|rháphion}}, "a small needle"), referring to the shape of the antennae.{{cite journal|last=Loew|first=H.|year=1864|title=Monographs of the Diptera of North America.
