Rhizophora stylosa, the spotted mangrove, red mangrove, small stilted mangrove or stilt-root mangrove, is a small to medium-sized evergreen{{Cite web |title=NParks {{!}} Rhizophora stylosa |url=https://www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/5/2/5200 |access-date=2024-06-04 |website=www.nparks.gov.sg |language=en}} tree in the family Rhizophoraceae. The specific epithet {{lang|la|stylosa}} is from the Latin meaning 'stylus form', referring to the flower.

Description

Rhizophora stylosa grows up to {{convert|15|m|-1}} tall with a trunk diameter of up to {{convert|25|cm|0}}. The bark is dark brown to black. The fruits are ovoid to pear-shaped and measure up to {{convert|4|cm|in|0|abbr=on}} long.

Distribution and habitat

Rhizophora stylosa grows naturally in Japan, China, Taiwan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malesia, Australia (New South Wales and Queensland) and many areas of the Pacific. Its habitat is sandy beaches and coral terraces on seashores.
