History
The magazine was founded by Brian Wise {{post-nominals|country=AUS|OAM}} in April 1992 after he visited the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and noticed the city had two monthly roots music magazines and was inspired to start his own in Melbourne.{{cite web |title=Brass Passers from the Down Under |url=https://www.wwoz.org/531-brass-passers-down-under |website=WWOZ |access-date=20 July 2021 |date=12 March 2012}}
In 2005 the magazine was purchased by Martin Jones and Verity Bee who ran Rhythms Magazine until 2016. Currently, Rhythms Magazine distributes 120,000 internationally each year, and is also available digitally.
