The RingSide has been one of the city's most famous steakhouses for more than 60 years and, in addition to the original location on West Burnside Street, it has opened a second restaurant on the East side of the Willamette River. The name refers to the establishment's boxing decor theme.{{cite book|last=Samson|first=Karl|title=Frommer's Portable Portland|year=2010|isbn= 978-0-470-53770-1|publisher=Frommer's|page=55}} In 2010, the restaurant temporarily moved the original location to the Fox Tower while the Burnside location was remodeled.{{cite news|last=Russell|first=Michael|title=RingSide Fish House opens Monday in downtown Portland, joining other new restaurants in theater-area fray|url=http://www.oregonlive.com/dining/index.ssf/2011/07/ringside_fish_house_opens_mond.html|access-date=16 July 2011|newspaper=The Oregonian|date=July 13, 2016}} A year later, they opened RingSide Fish House at the Fox Tower location. The east side location at the Glendoveer Golf Course was set to close for a remodel in January 2015.{{cite news |last1=Bakall |first1=Samantha |date=October 29, 2014 |title=RingSide East is closing for a revamp, temporarily laying off 57 employees |work=The Oregonian |url=http://www.oregonlive.com/dining/index.ssf/2014/10/ringside_east_closing_for_reva.html |access-date=31 October 2014}}

The Glendoveer location reopened as the Ringside Grill. The Ringside Grill's last day of business was August 30, 2017.{{Cite web|last=Bamman|first=Mattie John|url=https://pdx.eater.com/2017/8/24/16197326/ringside-grill-closes-portland-pdx|title=Ringside Grill is Closing This Month|date=24 August 2017|website=Eater Portland}}

In late April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, RingSide sold frozen boxes of steak directly to the general public for the first time in 75 years. The move caused a mile-long traffic jam along West Burnside Street, and products sold out in less than 2.5 hours.{{Cite web|last=Green|first=Aimee|url=https://www.oregonlive.com/coronavirus/2020/04/portland-police-respond-to-mile-long-traffic-jam-of-cars-lining-up-to-buy-ringside-steakhouse-meats.html|title = RingSide Steakhouse meat sale creates mile-long traffic jam on Burnside|date = 25 April 2020|website=The Oregonian}}

Later in 2020, RingSide filed a lawsuit against their insurer, Cincinnati Financial, for $236,000 for the loss of business and expenses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.{{Cite web |last=Rogoway |first=Mike |date=2020-09-03 |title=Ringside, Revolution Hall and others sue over pandemic insurance claims |url=https://www.oregonlive.com/business/2020/09/ringside-revolution-hall-and-others-sue-insurance-company-over-unpaid-pandemic-claims.html |access-date=2022-08-05 |website=The Oregonian |language=en}}

In 2021, Cincinnati Financial sued RingSide seeking a judgement declaring RingSide's revenue losses from lower customer traffic as a result of wildfire smoke were not covered by their policy.{{Cite web |last=Bjorke |first=Christopher |date=30 April 2021 |title=Portland restaurant sued by insurer over wildfire claim |url=https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/news/2021/04/30/ringside-fire-lawsuit.html |access-date=2022-08-05 |website=www.bizjournals.com}}

In April 2025, a kitchen fire forced the restaurant to close temporarily.{{Cite web |last=Cheadle |first=Harry |date=2025-04-07 |title=RingSide, Portland’s Oldest Steakhouse, Is Closed After a Kitchen Fire |url=https://pdx.eater.com/2025/4/7/24403146/ringside-steakhouse-closure-kitchen-fire-portland |access-date=2025-04-07 |website=Eater Portland |language=en}}
