Ripley urban development
The Ripley area is part of the Brisbane metropolitan western growth corridor project. The development, known as Ecco Ripley is in response to the local and state governments' solicitation for land releases to alleviate expected and forecasted population growth from the general population growth of the existing communities, as well as growth from interstate and overseas migration.{{cite web|url=http://www.qldgroup.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=94|title=Ripley Valley - The Western Corridor|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080719034837/http://www.qldgroup.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=94|archive-date=19 July 2008|url-status=dead|access-date=22 June 2017}}{{cite web|url=http://elecpress.monash.edu.au/pnp/free/pnpv6n4/barker.html|title=Monash University Research Repository - People and Place|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110719124315/http://elecpress.monash.edu.au/pnp/free/pnpv6n4/barker.html|archive-date=19 July 2011|url-status=dead|access-date=22 June 2017}}
Once the area is fully developed, the Ripley district is expected to have a population of 120,000 people with an estimated 50,000 residential dwellings. The city development will provide employment with 200,000 job positions estimated. The Ripley development is in proximity of the suburbs and areas within the western growth corridor and Ripley district, such as South Ripley, Swanbank, Deebing Heights and White Rock, with suitable land for new residential, business and industrial developments.{{cite web|url=http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/business/planning/planning_projects/ripley_valley/|title=Ripley Valley|publisher=Ipswich City Council|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110303074808/http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/business/planning/planning_projects/ripley_valley|archive-date=3 March 2011|url-status=dead|access-date=22 June 2017}}
