In 2001, he secured a move to English club Grimsby Town, joining on a free transfer along with fellow Feyenoord youngster Ronald Ermes. Busscher featured once for Grimsby, coming on as a substitute for fellow countryman Menno Willems in the 89th minute of a 1–0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.{{cite web |url=https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=27090 |title=Games played by Robbie Busscher in 2001/2002 |work=Soccerbase |publisher=Centurycomm |accessdate=23 March 2010}}
