Biography
Educated at Haberdashers' Aske's School Elstree, Manchester Polytechnic (BSc, 1989) and RMA Sandhurst, Hughes-Penney was commissioned into the British Army in 1990. As a subaltern he served overseas with the 13th/18th Royal Hussars then Light Dragoons (after amalgamation), being promoted Captain in 1993.{{Cite web|url=https://exforcesinbusiness.co.uk/2018-finalists/|title=2018 Finalists|date=April 16, 2018}}
