Origins

The current Neo-Gothic church was built between 1881 and 1883 on designs by architect Thomas Mullet Ellis. It was opened for worship on 18 March 1883. It was the first building in Malta to make use of electricity.{{cite web|last1=Scerri|first1=John|title=Methodist Church|url=http://www.malta-canada.com/churches-chapels/Floriana.htm|website=malta-canada.com|access-date=20 February 2015}}
