Robne kuće Beograd ({{lang-sr-cyr|Робне куће Београд}}; Anglicized: Department Stores Belgrade) is a chain of department stores across Serbia, with headquarters in Belgrade.

History

Robne kuće Beograd company was founded in 1965 and soon became the largest supermarket chain in former SFR Yugoslavia, and third largest chain in Europe.{{cite web |title=RK BEOGRAD Istorija |url=http://rkbeograd.rs/istorija.aspx |website=rkbeograd.rs |accessdate=3 October 2018 |language=Serbian}} In 1970, it opened a store in the capital city of Belgrade that opened 24 hours a day, the first such store in SFR Yugoslavia.{{cite news |last1=Nikolić |first1=Z |title=Beogradske priče: "Bdenje" ispred prvog dragstora |url=http://www.novosti.rs/vesti/beograd.74.html:709178-Beogradske-price-Bdenje-ispred-prvog-dragstora |accessdate=3 October 2018 |work=novosti.rs |date=31 January 2018 |language=Serbian}} During its golden times, it had 10,000 employees and more than 100,000 articles in stock.{{cite news |title=Prva Robna kuća "Beograd" |url=https://www.011info.com/upoznaj-beograd/prva-robna-kuca-beograd |accessdate=3 October 2018 |work=011info.com |language=Serbian}}{{cite news |last1=Janković |first1=M. Finally, in 2002, it went into bankruptcy procedure. The department stores were successfully auctioned off on 29 October 2007, to the Serbian Peugeot vehicle importer "Verano Motors" for 360 million euros.{{cite web|url=http://www.ekapija.com/website/sr/page/134279 |author=Tanjug

As of 2008, Robne kuće Beograd managed with 34 department stores in Serbia, of which eight were located in Belgrade.{{cite news |last1=Škrbić |first1=M. |title="Verano" otvara robne kuće |url=https://www.blic.rs/biznis/verano-otvara-robne-kuce/xrcj4ms |accessdate=1 December 2018 |work=blic.rs |date=14 August 2008 |language=Serbian}}

In 2008, Greek Marfin Investment Group took the majority of shares in Robne kuće Beograd from "Verano Motors".{{cite news |title="Verano" zbog para ustupio udeo RKB |url=http://www.glas-javnosti.rs/node/14971/print |accessdate=23 November 2019 |work=glas-javnosti.rs |language=Serbian}}
