The robust cardinalfish (Epigonus robustus) is a species of deepwater cardinalfish found around the world in southern temperate waters at depths of from {{convert|500|to|3000|m|ft}}. It can reach a length of {{convert|22|cm|in}} TL.{{FishBase |genus= Epigonus|species= robustus| month = April | year = 2013}}

It is a vigorous fish which, apart from the second dorsal fin exhibiting a longer spine, resembles the big-eyed cardinalfish.
