Roger Meredith Harris (born 27 July 1933) is a former New Zealand cricketer{{cite news|url=http://www.nzherald.co.nz/domestic-cricket/news/article.cfm?c_id=496&objectid=10356517|title=Centenary boost for Papatoetoe club |date=23 November 2005|work=The New Zealand Herald|access-date=27 February 2012}} who played in two Tests in 1959.
Career
A right-handed opening batsman and occasional medium pace bowler, Harris played first-class cricket for Auckland from 1955–56 to 1973–74. He made his first century in the opening match of the 1957–58 season, reaching 100 in 178 minutes and going on to make 111 on the last day of Auckland's close victory over Canterbury.{{cite journal |title=Auckland’s Dramatic Win in Shield Match |journal=Press |date=28 December 1957 |page=11 |url=https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/CHP19571228.2.119}} In the 1958–59 Plunket Shield season, he made 329 runs at an average of 36.55.{{cite web|title=Plunket Shield Batting averages 1958–59|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Events/3/Plunket_Shield_1958-59/Batting_by_Average.html |publisher=CricketArchive|access-date=15 May 2017|url-access=subscription}} He was selected to open New Zealand's batting against England in the two Tests at the end of the season, he and his opening partner Bruce Bolton both making their Test debuts.
