Early life and bowls career

Jones was born in Liverpool, England and emigrated to Canada as a teenager in 1952. He made his debut for Canada in 1974.{{cite book|last=Warters|first=Bob|title=Fifth World Bowls Championship Official Souvenir|year=1984|publisher=Key Publishing Ltd}}

Jones won a bronze medal in the pairs with Bill Boettger and a silver medal in the fours at the 1992 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Worthing.{{cite book|last=Newby|first=Donald|title=Bowls Yearbook 91|year=1991|publisher=Telegraph Publications|isbn=0-330-31664-8}}
