At a height of {{convert|1.98|m|ftin|abbr=on}} tall,{{Cite web|url=https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/?pcode=000062|title=BARRETT, ROWAN - Welcome to 7DAYS EuroCup|website=www.eurocupbasketball.com}} he played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. He was the top scorer in the 2002 Israel Basketball Premier League. He is general manager of the Canadian men's national team.

High school career

Born in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Ontario, Barrett attended West Hill Collegiate Institute, where he played high school basketball.

College career

Barrett played NCAA Division I college basketball at St. John's University, with the St. John's Red Storm, from 1992 to 1996.

Professional career

Barrett was under contract with the Toronto Raptors (1997 and 1999), and Philadelphia 76ers (1999), but he never played in any NBA regular season games with those teams.

National team career

Barrett played for the senior Canadian national basketball team. With Canada, he played at the 1998 FIBA World Championship, the 2000 Summer Olympic Games, and the 2002 FIBA World Championship.
