History

Founded in 1969 as Olimpic Lazio, in 1975, the team became a section of {{ill|S.S. Lazio (sports club)|it|Polisportiva S.S. Lazio|lt=S.S. Lazio}} multi-sport club.{{citation needed|date=August 2017}}
Consistently finishing in the top four positions through the 1970s, Lazio seemed to emerge as a powerhouse in the last years or the decade winning the Coppa Italia in 1978 and its two first national championships in {{ill|1979 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 1979 (calcio femminile)|lt=1979}} and {{ill|1979 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 1980 (calcio femminile)|lt=1980}}. The second half of the 1980s was also successful, with two further championships ({{ill|1986–87 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 1986–1987 (calcio femminile)|lt=1987}}, {{ill|1987–88 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 1987–1988 (calcio femminile)|lt=1988}}) and cups, including a double in 1987.
Lazio declined throughout the 1990s and narrowly avoided relegation in {{ill|1996–97 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 1996–1997 (calcio femminile)|lt=1997}}. However, after changing their name from S.S. Lazio Calcio Femminile to S.S. Ruco Line Lazio Calcio Femminile in 1999, they rose back to win their fifth national championship in the {{ill|2001–02 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 2001–2002 (calcio femminile)|lt=2001-02}} season (plus two additional Cups).
At the end of the season, they were renamed as S.S. Enterprise Lazio Calcio Femminile but this lasted just one season before switching to A.D. Decimum Lazio Femminile in 2003.
In 2006, the team was renamed from A.D. Decimum Lazio Femminile to S.S. Lazio Calcio Femminile.{{cite journal |date=30 June 2007 |title=CAMBIO DI DENOMINAZIONE SOCIALE |url=https://www.figc.it/figclegacyassets/assets/contentresources_2/contenutogenerico/205/c_2_contenutogenerico_2829_lstallegati_allegato1_upfallegato.pdf |journal=Comunicato Ufficiale |language=Italian |publisher=Italian Football Federation |volume=2006–07 |issue=28/A |access-date=6 December 2018}} By {{ill|2008–09 Serie A2 (women)|it|Serie A2 2008–2009 (calcio femminile)|lt=2009}} they were back in the top flight; despite finishing midtable in {{ill|2009–10 Serie A (women)|it|Serie A 2009–2010 (calcio femminile)|lt=2010}}, in 2011 the team avoided relegation by just one point.[https://int.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a-women/2010-2011/regular-season/r12710/ Tables] in Soccerway

They finished seventh in their first (2015-16) and second (2016-17) seasons in Group D of Serie B. In 2017-18 they finished second, just 7 points away from first place Roma Calcio Femminile. In 2018-19, the format of Italian football for women was changed. 12 teams composed the league and Lazio Women finished in eighth.
In 2019-20, the season was suspended due to COVID-19. Despite having more points than third place San Marino Academy, because of the formula that was used to calculate each club's final position, they were promoted to Serie A instead of Lazio Women.
In 2020-21, Lazio Women dominated the league and finished in first place to secure promotion to Serie A for the first time. Ashraf Seleman was in charge from rounds 1-14 but was replaced by Carolina Morace on December 31, 2021 and she led the squad for the remainder of the season.{{Cite web |last=Heyes |first=Apollo |date=February 1, 2021 |title=Official: Lazio Women Dismiss Coach Ashraf Seleman, Bring in Ex-Italy Coach Carolina Morace |url=https://thelaziali.com/2021/02/01/official-lazio-women-dismiss-coach-seleman-bring-in-ex-italy-coach-morace/ |access-date=March 3, 2022 |website=The Laziali}}
