He was a legislator of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Biography
Deb was elected as a legislator of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Chikiti in 1971.{{cite web|accessdate=23 October 2019|website=www.elections.in|url=http://www.elections.in/orissa/assembly-constituencies/1971-election-results.html|title=Orissa Assembly Election Results in 1971

}} He is the father-in-law of Usha Devi who is the current legislator of this constituency.
