Career
=Early career=
Born in New Delhi, India to Afghan parents, Jalali moved to Quebec City, Quebec when he was only one year old.{{cite web|title=Sadi Jalali|url=http://canadasoccer.com/?t=roster&pid=1595|work=Canada Soccer|access-date=22 June 2013}} He then moved to Richmond, British Columbia when he was three years old and then to Edmonton, Alberta when he was five years old. While growing up, Jalali played soccer, basketball, and volleyball. He started playing club soccer for Millwoods Soccer Association. He then spent three seasons at Edmonton Juventus before spending six months with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency.{{cite web|title=Sadi Jalali|url=http://www.fcedmonton.com/index.php?id=612&playerID=473|work=FC Edmonton|access-date=22 June 2013}}

After spending time with FC Edmonton as a reserve player, Jalali signed a professional contract with the North American Soccer League side on 20 February 2013.{{cite web|title=FC Edmonton Sign Five Reserves to Pro Contracts|url=http://nasl.com/index.php?id=3&newsid=3751|work=North American Soccer League|access-date=22 June 2013}} He then made his professional debut for Edmonton in a league match on 13 April 2013 against the Carolina RailHawks at WakeMed Soccer Park, in which he came on as a 74th-minute substitute for Michael Cox as Edmonton went on to lose the match 2–1.{{cite web|title=Carolina RailHawks 2-1 FC Edmonton|url=http://nasl.com/index.php?id=488&getGameID=451|work=North American Soccer League|access-date=22 June 2013}} In September 2014, FC Edmonton announced Jalali had signed a contract extension to keep him at the club.{{cite news|author=Steven Sandor|title=Released by FC Edmonton in July, Sadi Jalali faces cocaine-trafficking charges |url=https://the11.ca/released-by-fc-edmonton-in-july-sadi-jalali-faces-cocaine-trafficking-charges/|access-date=12 September 2022|work=The11 |date=4 August 2016}} In July 2016 FC Edmonton released him.
International
Jalali is eligible to represent Canada and Afghanistan (through his parents). Due to him representing Canada at the under-17 level meant that he had given up his Indian passport to acquire a Canadian one,{{citation needed|date=April 2016}} thus he can not represent India unless he gives up Canadian citizenship.{{citation needed|date=April 2016}}
Jalali represented the Canada U17 side for the first time during the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in which he made his debut for Canada on 17 February 2011 against Barbados' U17s and even scored his first international goal in that match as Canada went on to win 8–0.{{cite web|title=Canada U17 8-0 Barbados U17|url=http://concacaf.globalsportsmedia.com/page.php?sport=soccer&language_id=us&page=tournament&view=match&match_id=1060603|work=CONCACAF|access-date=22 June 2013|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120731150846/http://concacaf.globalsportsmedia.com/page.php?sport=soccer&language_id=us&page=tournament&view=match&match_id=1060603|archive-date=31 July 2012}} Jalali would eventually win a silver-medal in that tournament as Canada finished in 2nd place behind the United States. He would then go on to represent Canada at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup in which he scored for Canada against England's U17s on 22 June 2011 in a match that would end 2–2 and thus Canada's chances of advancing out of the group in the top 2.{{cite web|title=Canada U17 2-2 England U17|url=https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/archive/u17worldcup/mexico2011/matches/round=255973/match=300151823/report.html|work=FIFA.com|access-date=22 June 2013}} Jalali was named to the U20 squad that went to the 2014 Milk Cup,{{cite web| url = https://montrealgazette.com/sports/Edmonton+Sadi+Jalali+left+Hanson+Boakai+joining+Canada+team+under+Milk+Northern+Ireland+annual+tournament+starts+Monday+July+2014/10053140/story.html| url-status = dead| archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20141019121153/http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Edmonton+Sadi+Jalali+left+Hanson+Boakai+joining+Canada+team+under+Milk+Northern+Ireland+annual+tournament+starts+Monday+July+2014/10053140/story.html| archive-date = 2014-10-19| title = FC Edmonton's Sadi Jalali, left, and Hanson Boakai are joining Canada's team for the under-20 Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.
