Early life
After his parents divorced, he lived with his father in Manhattan and attended the Dwight School. He began using drugs when he was in his early teens. Career
He enrolled in The New School with a degree in creative writing. After graduating, he worked as a freelance music critic; he contributed to New York magazine, The Atlantic, Esquire, and Out, among others. Lansky joined the editorial staff of Time in 2014 and became their West Coast editor in 2018.
