Samsonia is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria in the family Yersiniaceae. Species within this genus were originally found in the bark of diseased Erythrina trees.{{cite journal|last1=Sutra|first1=L|last2=Christen|first2=R|last3=Bollet|first3=C|last4=Simoneau|first4=P|last5=Gardan|first5=L|title=Samsonia erythrinae gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from bark necrotic lesions of Erythrina sp., and discrimination of plant-pathogenic Enterobacteriaceae by phenotypic features.|journal=International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology|date=Jul 2001|volume=51|issue=Pt 4|pages=1291–304|pmid=11491325|doi=10.1099/00207713-51-4-1291 |doi-access=free}} Among bacterial plant pathogens within the Enterobacterales, Samsonia species may be most closely related to Pectobacterium species.{{cite journal|last1=Young|first1=JM|last2=Park|first2=DC|title=Relationships of plant pathogenic enterobacteria based on partial atpD, carA, and recA as individual and concatenated nucleotide and peptide sequences.|journal=Systematic and Applied Microbiology|date=Jul 2007|volume=30|issue=5|pages=343–54|pmid=17451899|doi=10.1016/j.syapm.2007.03.002}} Until now, only one species of this genus has been described (S. erythrinae).[https://lpsn.dsmz.de/genus/samsonia LSPN lpsn.dsmz.de]
