Samsung Gear was a line of wearable computing devices produced by Samsung Electronics. The first device in the series, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, was announced in 2013.{{cite web|title=Samsung unveils Galaxy Gear smartwatch with 1.63-inch AMOLED touchscreen, built-in camera, 70 apps|url=https://www.engadget.com/2013/09/04/samsung-unveils-galaxy-gear/|work=Engadget|access-date=9 December 2013}} Since then, the line has expanded to include fitness bands and earbuds, as well as more smartwatches.
Although the first device (Galaxy Gear) was named after the Galaxy brand, Samsung did not name its subsequent devices under the "Galaxy", simply using the prefix "Gear". February 2019, Samsung re-branded smartwatches, fitness bands, and earbuds under the Galaxy brand (Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Buds).{{cite web |title=Samsung Announces New Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Fit, and Galaxy Buds |url=https://www.droid-life.com/2019/02/20/samsung-galaxy-wearables-2019/ |website=Droid Life |date=2019-02-20 }} Samsung shipped approximately 31 million wearable devices in 2019,{{Cite web|url=https://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS46122120|title=Shipments of Wearable Devices Reach 118.9 Million Units in the Fourth Quarter and 336.5 Million for 2019, According to IDC|website=IDC: The premier global market intelligence company|access-date=2020-04-09|archive-date=2021-01-14|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210114120031/https://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS46122120|url-status=dead}} including 7.4 million true wireless earbuds.{{Cite web|url=https://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-comes-distant-third-place-tws-headphone-sales-2019|title=Samsung's true wireless headphone sales in 2019 couldn't compete with Apple|date=2020-01-15|website=Android Central|access-date=2020-04-08}}
