Lieutenant-General Sir Samuel Robert Wesley {{post-nominals|country=GBR|size=100%|sep=,|KCB}} ({{circa|1791}} – 5 January 1877) was an Anglo-Irish Royal Marines officer who served as Deputy Adjutant-General Royal Marines.

Early life

Military career

Wesley was commissioned into the Royal Marine Artillery.{{cite web|url= http://www.forgottenbooks.com/readbook_text/Annual_Register_1878_1000443258/529|title=Annual Register|year=1878|access-date=20 May 2016}}{{dead link|date=February 2024|bot=medic}} He saw action in Spain during the First Carlist War before becoming Assistant Adjutant-General at Headquarters Royal Marine Forces.{{London Gazette|issue=21262|page=2970|date=11 November 1851}} He became Deputy Adjutant-General Royal Marines (the professional head of the Royal Marines) in December 1854{{London Gazette|issue=21643|page=4183|date=13 December 1854}} and directed the involvement of the Royal Marines during the Crimean War before retiring in January 1862.{{London Gazette|issue=22587|page=92|date=7 January 1862}}
