LovEvolution (formerly San Francisco LovEvolution and San Francisco LoveFest) was a technoparade and festival that occurred annually in the Bay Area in late September and early October.{{cite web|title=Lovefest San Francisco|url=http://www.festivalpig.com/Lovefest-San-Francisco.html|website=Festival Pig|accessdate=28 June 2014|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140804131518/http://www.festivalpig.com/Lovefest-San-Francisco.html|archivedate=4 August 2014}} From its inception in 2004 to 2009, the parade included 25 floats and started at San Francisco's 2nd and Market Streets. The parade continued all the way to San Francisco Civic Center Plaza. The 2009 parade drew over 100,000 people.{{cite web|last1=Matier|first1=Phillip|last2=Ross|first2=Andrew|title=LovEvolution party plans hit snag in S.F.|url=http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/LovEvolution-party-plans-hit-snag-in-S-F-3253762.php|website=SFGate|date=5 September 2010|publisher=San Francisco Chronicle|accessdate=28 June 2014}}

History

The parade has its origins in Berlin's Loveparade which began in 1989. In 2003, the city denied the parade a permit and the event moved to San Francisco. In 2004, when German organizers were able to secure permits back in Berlin, North American organizers decided to continue their own event and dubbed it the LoveFest. In 2009 the name was changed to LovEvolution to avoid confusion with a similarly named electronic music event in LA.{{cite web|title=LovEvolution - San Francisco, CA - on Sat Oct 3, 2009 at Civic Center Plaza|url=http://www.sfstation.com/lovevolution-e674191|website=SF Station|publisher=SF Station|accessdate=28 June 2014|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://archive.today/20140628021420/http://www.sfstation.com/lovevolution-e674191|archivedate=28 June 2014}}

In 2009 the permit for LovEvolution was revoked by officials in San Francisco citing safety concerns. Unable to find a suitable venue after the permits were revoked the event was cancelled in 2010 and moved to Oakland the following year{{cite web|last1=Sankin|first1=Aaron|title=LovEvolution Parade Ditches San Francisco For Oakland|url=http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/21/lovevolution-parade-moves-to-oakland_n_906246.html|website=Huffington Post|date=21 July 2011|accessdate=28 June 2014}} and became a paid event.{{cite web|title=San Francisco Love Evolution 2014|url=http://www.oaklandmofo.com/blog/san-francisco-lovefest-loveparade-love-evolution|website=OaklandMofo|accessdate=28 June 2014}} Since 2011 the parade has not been held and its website states it is looking for a venue.
