Fictional character biography
Sardath is the lead scientist on the technologically advanced planet Rann in the Alpha Centauri system. The Rannians are a humanoid race who appear almost identical to humans. Sardath is known for many of his world's greatest inventions, the most important being the Zeta-Beam. It was originally created as a communication device so he could contact other worlds; due to the amount of energy used, it became a teleporter. The first planet reached was Earth, where it struck one of the world's native archaeologists, Adam Strange, and transported him across the galaxy to Rann. Sardath was shocked by this, but theorised that radiation of the beam would wear off, returning Strange home.{{Cite web |last=Drum |first=Nicole |date=May 13, 2018 |title=Krypton: Who Are Sardath and Alanna? |url=https://comicbook.com/dc/news/krypton-who-are-sardath-and-alanna/ |access-date=December 13, 2024 |website=ComicBook.com |language=en-US}}{{Cite web |last=Smith |first=Andrew A. |date=March 20, 2018 |title=Krypton{{'}}s cast of characters |url=https://www.dispatch.com/story/entertainment/local/2018/03/20/krypton-s-cast-characters/12954211007/ |access-date=December 13, 2024 |website=The Columbus Dispatch |language=en-US}}
Despite his shock, Strange remained with Sardath and his daughter to protect the planet from extraterrestrial threats using Rann's technology. Eventually, the effects of the beam wore off, automatically returning Strange to Earth at the exact point of departure, but not before Sardath had given him a schedule of beam firings, allowing him to periodically return to Rann.{{Cite web |last=Dandeneau |first=Jim |date=March 2, 2020 |title=Strange Adventures is the Most Anticipated DC Superhero Book of the Year |url=https://www.denofgeek.com/comics/strange-adventures-is-the-most-anticipated-dc-superhero-book-of-the-year/ |access-date=December 13, 2024 |website=Den of Geek |language=en-US}}Showcase #17 in The Adam Strange Archives: Volume 1.
