The Sauer S 2500 is a family of four stroke aircraft engines certified according to JAR 22-H (CS-22 subpart H)[http://www.sauer-flugmotorenbau.de Sauer Flugmotorenbau GmbH]EASA, [http://www.easa.europa.eu/certification-specifications/cs-22-sailplanes-and-powered-sailplanes CS-22]
Design and development
The engine is based on the Volkswagen Wasserboxer engine, extensively modified for aircraft use and all the parts are custom made. They are certified according to CS-22 subpart H[https://www2.lba.de/data/bb/Motoren/en_4580_01.pdf LBA 4580], LBA and can therefore be used in motorgliders and light aircraft that are certified as CS-VLA[http://www.easa.europa.eu/document-library/certification-specifications/cs-vla-amendment-1 CS-VLA], CS-VLA and CS-LSA[http://www.easa.europa.eu/document-library/certification-specifications/cs-lsa-amendment-1 CS-LSA], CS-LSA
