Say Now are a British girl group from London consisting of members Ysabelle Angeli, Amelia Onuorah and Madeleine Haynes.{{Cite web |date=25 July 2023 |title=UK Girl Group needanamebro Officially Picks a Name, Say Now |url=https://themessenger.com/entertainment/uk-girl-group-needanamebro-officially-picks-a-name-say-now |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230726001650/https://themessenger.com/entertainment/uk-girl-group-needanamebro-officially-picks-a-name-say-now |url-status=dead |archive-date=26 July 2023 |access-date=28 July 2023 |website=The Messenger |language=en}} They were formed in 2022 as needanamebro, since the members had not been able to come up with a name for their group, later debuting as Say Now in 2023.
History
The group formed as a duo consisting of Angeli and Onuorah, with Haynes joining the group after their signing to Atlantic Records. Prior to the formation of the group, Onuorah was set to begin studying at the London College of Fashion, Angeli was set to enter her second year of a Birmingham music college and Haynes was attending ArtsEd. All of the members quit their respective courses to join the group. The group are managed by Modest! Management, notable for managing the early careers of British pop groups One Direction and Little Mix. They gained attention online in 2022 with their cover of Drake's song "Massive". In 2023, the group released the singles "Better Love", "Not a Lot Left to Say", and "Netflix (Better Now Without You)". The UK's Official Charts Company praised "Not a Lot Left to Say", calling it a "breezy bop par excellence" and a contender for "song of the summer".{{Cite web|url=https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/songs-of-the-summer-2023-contenders-leigh-anne-dave-and-central-cee-kylie-minogue-and-more__39570/|date=15 June 2023|title=Songs of the Summer 2023 contenders: Leigh-Anne, Dave and Central Cee, Kylie Minogue and more|website=Official Charts Company|access-date=26 June 2023|archive-date=19 October 2023|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20231019125302/https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/songs-of-the-summer-2023-contenders-leigh-anne-dave-and-central-cee-kylie-minogue-and-more__39570/|url-status=live}}
The group were untitled for their first year, releasing music under their temporary moniker needanamebro, but they unveiled their official name via social media on 25 July 2023.{{Cite web|url=https://twitter.com/needanamebro/status/1683907424694968320|date=25 July 2023|title=Say Now on Twitter|website=Twitter|access-date=25 July 2023|archive-date=25 July 2023|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230725233648/https://twitter.com/needanamebro/status/1683907424694968320|url-status=live}} In an interview with Glamour, they said that Love Always, Truth Say and GIRL (an acronym for Girls in Real Life) were almost chosen until Haynes suggested the name Say Now. As well as the announcement of their name being Say Now, they released their debut extended play, Needanamebro. The track listing collated their singles released to date, as well as remixes, a snippet of a new song and their cover of "Massive".{{cite news |last1=Vecera |first1=Mattea |title=UK Girl Group Needanamebro Officially Has a Name: Say Now |url=https://glittermagazine.co/2023/07/27/uk-girl-group-needanamebro-officially-has-a-name-say-now/ |access-date=16 August 2023 |work=Glitter |archive-date=16 August 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230816144829/https://glittermagazine.co/2023/07/27/uk-girl-group-needanamebro-officially-has-a-name-say-now/ |url-status=live }}
