It followed a torrent of social media support for Minto after NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg revealed there would be up to two inductees into rugby league's most exclusive club.{{cite web|url=https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/the-peoples-immortal-nrl-cult-hero-scott-minto-gets-bronze-statue-at-suncorp-stadium/news-story/7405d69710c988d9b1d809808272104e/|title=Scott Minto gets bronze statue at Suncorp Stadium|publisher=Fox Sports|location=Australia|date=17 May 2018}}
