He played for Glasgow Warriors in the PRO12{{cite web | url=http://www.glasgowwarriors.org/team/backs/3245-scott-wight | title=Scott Wight Glasgow Warriors profile | access-date=26 October 2012 }} having previously represented Melrose.
Club career
Scott started off playing for Melrose RFC playing at 10. During his time at Melrose, Wight captained the Greenyards team to a magnificent haul of Premier 1, Border League and Melrose Sevens titles, and also guided them to the final of the Scottish Cup. He also represented the Scotland Club XV International team.{{cite web |url=http://www.glasgowwarriors.org/glasgow-warriors/player/scott-wight |title=Glasgow Warriors (Scott Wight) {{!}} Glasgow Warriors |website=www.glasgowwarriors.org |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130430084842/http://www.glasgowwarriors.org/glasgow-warriors/player/scott-wight |archive-date=2013-04-30}}
In 2011, Scott signed with Glasgow Warriors. Since his time there, he has been the third choice stand off behind internationalists Duncan Weir and Ruaridh Jackson. During the 2012 season, he has been a strong contender with Jackson to start with Weir being injured. In May 2013, Wight signed a new one-year contract, saying "I've only ever wanted to stay in Glasgow and I'm very happy to have signed this new deal".{{cite web|url=http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/rugby/glasgow-warriors-stand-off-scott-wight-agrees-new-contract.1369662364|title=Glasgow Warriors stand-off Scott Wight agrees new contract|work=The Herald|location=Glasgow}}
Wight left Glasgow at the end of the 2013–14 season.{{cite web|url=http://www.scotsman.com/sport/rugby/latest/glasgow-warriors-trio-to-depart-at-end-of-season-1-3411148|title=Glasgow Warriors trio to depart at end of season|work=The Scotsman}}
He joined the Warriors side again on 25 August 2015, this time on loan{{cite web|url=http://www.glasgowwarriors.org/news/15/08/25/wight-joins-loan-warriors-leave-canada|title=Wight joins on loan as Warriors leave for Canada|work=glasgowwarriors.org}} from Scotland 7s.{{cite web|url=http://www.scottishrugby.org/scotland-7s/player/scott-wight|title=Scotland 7s (Scott Wight) - Scottish Rugby Union|work=scottishrugby.org}} This was to provide cover at fly-half throughout the Rugby World Cup period with the injury to Gregor Hunter.
=Coaching=
While still an active player, Wight took a step into coaching in April 2017 when he was appointed as coach of the Scotland Women 7s squad, replacing Scott Forrest in the role.{{Cite news|url=http://www.planetrugby.com/news/scotland-womens-sevens-appoint-wight/|title=Scotland {{as written|Wom|ens' [sic]}} Sevens appoint Wight|date=26 April 2017|work=Planet Rugby|access-date=6 April 2018}}{{Cite web|url=http://www.scotsman.com/sport/rugby-union/scotland/scott-wight-appointed-coach-of-scotland-women-sevens-side-1-4430699|title=Scott Wight appointed coach of Scotland Women Sevens side|last=Heatly|first=Gary|work=The Scotsman|date=26 April 2017|access-date=6 April 2018}}
