P. de Candolle in 1805 with the single species Securigera coronilla, which is now considered to be a synonym of Securigera securidaca {{au|(L.) Degen & Dörfl. (1897)}}, based on the earlier publication of the same taxon as Coronilla securidaca {{au|L.}} in 1753.{{GRIN | Securigera securidaca | 33465 | access-date = 23 January 2018}}[https://www.jstor.org/stable/3996918 Per Lasson (1989) "A New Delimitation of the Genera Coronilla, Hippocrepis, and Securigera (Fabaceae)."
