Design
The Seidelmann 299 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, a reverse transom, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed fin keel or optional shoal draft keel. The fin keel version displaces {{convert|8000|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|3600|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast, while the shoal draft version displaces {{convert|8800|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|2600|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|5.42|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard keel and {{convert|4.18|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the optional shoal draft keel.
The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar diesel engine for docking and maneuvering. The fuel tank holds {{convert|12|u.s.gal}} and the fresh water tank has a capacity of {{convert|30|u.s.gal}}.
The design has sleeping accommodation for five people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow cabin, two straight settee berths in the main cabin and an aft cabin with a quarter berth on the port side. The galley is located on the starboard side just forward of the companionway ladder. The galley is L-shaped and is equipped with a stove, icebox and a sink. The head is located just aft of the bow cabin on the port side.
The design has a hull speed of {{convert|6.57|kn|km/h|abbr=on}}.
