Seirom is a dark ambient musical project started by Dutch multi-instrumentalist and composer Maurice de Jong, otherwise known as Mories. It was founded in 2011 and marked a stark contrast to de Jong's previous work, embracing a more ethereal sound.{{cite web |url={{Allmusic|class=artist|id=mn0002960996|pure_url=yes}}|title=Seirom |publisher=Allmusic |access-date=March 23, 2016}}

History

The Seirom project was conceived in 2011 after composer Maurice de Jong had reached a creative exhaustive point with his other active projects. "I started to feel burned out. I think all the negativity (in my music making) kind of had an impact on me. I needed to do something positive." He independently released Eremitic on June 6, 2011. 1973 was released on November 9, 2012 and featured a lighter more positive tone compared to Seirom's debut.{{cite web |last=Alex |url=http://lurkersgrave.com/2013/03/17/endless-bliss-in-conversation-with-mories-de-jong-on-seirom/ |title=Endless Bliss: In Conversation With Mories de Jong on Seirom |publisher=Lurker's Grave |date=March 17, 2013 |access-date=March 23, 2016}}{{cite web |first=Francesco |last=Nunziata |url=http://www.ondarock.it/recensioni/2014_seirom_andthelightswallowedeverything.htm |title=Seirom: And the Light Swallowed Everything |publisher=Onda Rock |date=May 26, 2014 |language=it |access-date=March 23, 2016}} On May 1, 2014 the third full-length album And the Light Swallowed Everything was released and received positively, with Kez Whelan of Terrorizer describing the music as "hauntingly, harrowingly, luminously beautiful."{{cite web |first=Kez |last=Whelan |url=http://www.terrorizer.com/news/streams/stream-seiroms-light-swallowed-everything-entirety/ |title=Stream Seirom's 'And the Light Swallowed Everything' in Its Entirety |publisher=Terrorizer |date=30 April 2014 |access-date=March 23, 2016}} Seirom's fourth album I Was So Sad was released on July 8, 2016.
