The Sembawang Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) located in the northern area of Singapore. The GRC consists: Sembawang Central, Sembawang West, Woodlands, Admiralty and Canberra divisions managed by Sembawang Town Council. It also encompasses a section of Singapore's northern territorial waters in the Straits of Johor. The current MPs are Vikram Nair, Lim Wee Kiak, Ong Ye Kung, Poh Li San and Mariam Jaafar from the People's Action Party (PAP).
History
In 2025, Sembawang West was carved out of the GRC to form a new Sembawang West Single Member Constituency (SMC) for the 2025 general election in order to reduce the number of voters in the GRC.{{Cite web |title=GE2025: Six new SMCs created as the EBRC lays out changes to constituencies |url=https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/ge2025-six-new-smc-general-election-boundary-changes-4992541 |access-date=12 March 2025 |website=CNA |language=en}}{{Cite news |date=11 March 2025 |title=6 new SMCs for GE2025, five single seats gone |url=https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/6-new-smcs-for-ge2025-five-single-seats-gone |access-date=12 March 2025 |work=The Straits Times |language=en |issn=0585-3923}}
In the 2025 elections, the National Solidarity Party (NSP) and the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) were in talks hoping to avert a three-cornered fight in the constituency.{{cite web | last=Begum | first=Shabana | title=GE2025: NSP plans to meet SDP for talks to avoid three-cornered fight in Sembawang GRC | website=The Straits Times | date=6 April 2025 | url=https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/nsp-plans-to-meet-sdp-to-avoid-three-cornered-fight-in-sembawang-grc | access-date=16 April 2025}} However, on 12 April, both parties were unable to come to an agreement as NSP rejected SDP's proposal for NSP to instead contest in Holland–Bukit Timah.{{cite web | last=Begum | first=Shabana | title=GE2025: NSP, SDP fail in talks to avoid three-cornered fight in Sembawang GRC | website=The Straits Times | date=12 April 2025 | url=https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/ge2025-nsp-sdp-fail-in-talks-to-avoid-three-cornered-fight-in-sembawang-grc | access-date=16 April 2025}}
Due to Sembawang West ward being carved out of the GRC, incumbent MP for the ward, Poh, left the GRC team to contest the Sembawang West SMC.{{Cite news |last=Begum |first=Shabana |date=22 April 2025 |title=GE2025: Poh Li San to contest new Sembawang West SMC, against SDP’s Chee Soon Juan |url=https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/ge2025-poh-li-san-to-contest-new-sembawang-west-smc-against-sdps-chee-soon-juan |access-date=22 April 2025 |work=The Straits Times |language=en |issn=0585-3923}}
