Senegalia (from Senegal and Acacia senegal (L.) Willd.){{cite book |last1=Quattrocchi |first1=Umberto |title=R - Z. |date=2000 |publisher=CRC Press |location=Boca Raton, FL |isbn=9780849326783 |page=2458}} is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. It belongs to the Mimosoid clade. Until 2005, its species were considered members of Acacia.{{cite journal |author1=Seigler DS |author2=Ebinger JE |author3=Miller JT. | title = The genus Senegalia (Fabaceae: Mimosoideae) from the New World. | journal = Phytologia | volume = 88 | issue = 1 | pages = 38–93 | year = 2006 |doi=10.5962/bhl.part.17845 | doi-access = free }}{{cite journal |author1=Kyalangalilwa B |author2=Boatwright JS |author3=Daru BH |author4=Maurin O |author5=van der Bank M. | title = Phylogenetic position and revised classification of Acacia s.l. The genus was considered polyphyletic and required further division,{{cite journal |author1=Miller JT |author2=Seigler D. | title = Evolutionary and taxonomic relationships of Acacia s.l. (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae). | journal = Aust Syst Bot | volume = 25 | issue = 3 | pages = 217–224 | year = 2012 | doi = 10.1071/SB11042 |s2cid=84672750 |url=https://zenodo.org/record/5647867 }} with the genera Parasenegalia and Pseudosenegalia accepted soon after.

Senegalia can be distinguished from other acacias by its spicate inflorescences and non-spinescent stipules.{{cite journal | author = Dyer C. | year = 2014 | title = New names for the African Acacia species in Vachellia and Senegalia | journal = Southern Forests: A Journal of Forest Science | volume = 76 | issue = 4 | pages = iii | doi = 10.2989/20702620.2014.980090| doi-access = | bibcode = 2014SFJFS..76D...3D }}

Plants in the genus are native to the tropical and subtropical areas of the world, occurring on the Australian, Asian, African and South and North American continents, as well as in Wallacea.
