The Davis Method is his personalized approach and method to drumming and percussion education and performance—controversially marketed as “The 1%.” He explains his drum technique as a five-part, pronation and supination-based technique with a French timpani grip.

Career

Davis was the drummer for Berklee College of Music-based progressive rock band Abigail's GhostAbigail's Ghost - https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/abigails_ghost/ from 2004 to 2006, writing and recording the drumming for the progressive rock studio album Selling Insincerity.

From 2007 to 2011, Davis performed as a session musician in the downtown area of New Orleans known as the French Quarter, performing shows with local artists on the Bourbon Street club circuit. While working in New Orleans, he met Kyle Thomas of the metal band Exhorder. By permission of the WFD, Davis was allowed to create the double stroke category to teach how to play a clean open drumroll, as well as perform various accuracy demonstrations with drum rudiments from multiple sticking families. Single Strokes: 1,005, 1,024, 1,044 strokes in 60 seconds. (2002)

Double Strokes: 1,021, 1,084, 1,200 strokes in 60 seconds. (2003–2004)

(Rankings and records were executed live at WFD competitions at a stick height of 10-12" with marching sticks.)

Davis was the first person in history to officially play a double stroke roll over the 1,000, 1,100, and 1,200 strokes per minute mark.

Ineligible to compete in NAMM WFD finals for single strokes after securing his first double stroke title, from 2005 to 2006, he co-hosted the WFD competitions alongside multi-speed world champion Mike Mangini at the Nashville, Los Angeles, and Indianapolis NAMM Show.
