Sharow is a village and civil parish in the county of North Yorkshire, England. It is about {{Convert|1|mi|km}} north-east of Ripon.{{cite map|title =Northallerton & Ripon|map =99|date =2016|scale =1:50,000 |series =Landranger |publisher =Ordnance Survey |isbn = 978-0-3192619-7-2}} The name Sharow derives from the Old English of 'Scearu' and 'Hōh' which translates as boundary hill-spur or a share/division of a sharply projecting piece of land.{{cite book|last1=Ekwall|first1=Eilert|title=The concise Oxford dictionary of English place-names|date=1960|publisher=Clarendon Press|location=Oxford|isbn=0-19-869103-3|page=414|edition=4}} In the 2001 Census, the village was registered as having a population of 546,{{NOMIS2001|id=36UD114|title=Sharow Parish|accessdate=3 February 2020}} which had risen slightly to 556 at the 2011 Census. Until 1974 it was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire.{{Cite web |title=History of Sharow, in Harrogate and West Riding |url=https://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/place/14204 |access-date=19 April 2025 |website=A Vision of Britain}} From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Borough of Harrogate, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.

The village has a pub (The Half Moon - now closed),{{cite web|title=Half Moon Sharow|url=http://www.halfmoonsharow.com/|website=halfmoonsharow.com|accessdate=20 June 2017}} Sharow Hall{{National Heritage List for England|num=1149793|desc=Sharow Hall|grade=II|accessdate=20 June 2017}} (which is not open to the public){{cite web|title=Sharow Hall|url=http://www.parksandgardens.org/places-and-people/site/2952|website=www.parksandgardens.org|accessdate=20 June 2017|language=en}} and the remains of a sanctuary cross which signified that the traveller was within {{convert|1|mi|adj=off}} of the monastery in Ripon and therefore granted sanctuary. Sharow currently has three Saturday cricket teams that play in the Nidderdale Amateur Cricket League.
