It is a small lake east of Chitek Lake in the Beaver River drainage basin. The primary inflow comes from Lac Huard, which is to the south. From the northern end of the lake, Tea Creek{{cite web |title=Tea Creek |url=https://toponymes.rncan.gc.ca/search-place-names/unique/HARXE|website=Canadian Geographical Names Database |publisher=Government of Canada |access-date=7 September 2022}} flows out and to the north. Tea Creek is joined by several smaller creeks en route to the northern end of Green Lake. Shell Lake Recreation Site
Shell Lake Recreation Site ({{coord|53.8275|-107.6078|display=inline}}){{cite web |title=Shell Lake Recreation Site|url=https://toponymes.rncan.gc.ca/search-place-names/unique/HAXCL|website=Canadian Geographical Names Database |publisher=Government of Canada |access-date=7 September 2022}} is a provincial recreation site on the western shore of Shell Lake. The park features a small campground and a boat launch for fishing.
