Shoestring Glacier

{{Short description|Glacier in Washington, United States}}

The Shoestring Glacier is a small valley glacier, stretching out from the {{convert|8364|ft|m|adj=on}} peak of Mount St. Helens in Skamania county in southwest Washington in the United States.{{cite web|url=http://www.us-places.com/map-places.php?placeid=1525696|title=Shoestring glacier|accessdate=2009-07-21}} The source of the glacier was an ice and snow field on the summit of the mountain. 75% of the glacier's volume was removed through the 1980 volcanic activity of St. Helens, creating deadly lahars down the mountainside. The glacier has also created a truncated spur on the mountain.{{cite web|url=http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/Volcanoes/MSH/NatMonument/PointsInterest/shoestring_glacier.html|title=Shoestring Glacier |last=Topinka|first=Lyn|date=2007-03-27|accessdate=2009-07-21}}
