A showreel (also known as a demo reel, sizzle reel, or work reel) is a short video showcasing a person's previous work used by people involved in filmmaking and other media, including actors, animators, lighting designers, editors, video games and models. Usually 2 to 3 minutes in length and consisting of footage from different projects, a showreel typically supplements a résumé and is used to promote the person to talent agents, producers, and casting directors.{{cite news |last1=Piper |first1=Stuart |title=8 ways to make a better showreel|url=https://www.thestage.co.uk/opinion/2014/8-ways-to-make-a-better-showreel/ |work=The Stage |date=30 September 2014}}{{cite book |last1=Birn |first1=Jeremy |title=Digital Lighting and Rendering |date=2006 |publisher=Pearson Education |isbn=9780132798211 |page=124 |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=tNH7T0TxQy0C&pg=SA10-PA124 |language=en}}{{cite news |last1=Box |first1=Tom |last2=Badruddin |first2=Bader |title=13 tips for creating the best animation showreel |url=https://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/features/motion-graphics/13-tips-for-creating-best-animation-showreel/ |work=Digital Arts |date=April 10, 2018}} A voice actor may create an audio-only showreel, a voice reel, for the same purpose.
