Drawing on influences such as Radiohead, Portishead, Nine Inch Nails, and Max Richter, the album marked a shift away from club music toward introspective and cinematic compositions.{{cite web|title=Simon Shackleton gets deeply personal with visionary new show The Shadowmaker|url=https://iamcru.com/simon-shackleton-gets-deeply-personal-with-visionary-new-show-the-shadowmaker/|website=IAMCRU|date=2024|access-date=26 March 2025}}
The Shadowmaker was accompanied by a live multimedia performance co-created with filmmaker Chele Gutek. The show premiered at MCA Denver’s Holiday Theater in February 2025 and was described as a "living documentary" blending live music, visual storytelling, archival footage, and cinematic sound design.{{cite web|title=Simon Shackleton Presents The Shadowmaker (World Premiere)|url=https://www.cpr.org/event/simon-shackleton-presents-the-shadowmaker-world-premiere/|website=Colorado Public Radio|access-date=26 March 2025}}{{cite web|title=Audient EVO impulsa el espectáculo directo The Shadowmaker|url=https://www.digitalavmagazine.com/en/2025/03/19/audient-evo-impulsa-espectaculo-directo-the-shadowmaker/|website=Digital AV Magazine|date=19 March 2025|access-date=26 March 2025}}
