So They Say is Pete Francis's first solo album.{{Cite news |last=Morse |first=Steve |date=2002-01-04 |title=On the serious side |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/442172424/?terms=Pete%20Francis&match=1 |access-date=2024-02-09 |work=The Boston Globe |pages=71}} So They Say features acoustic music with some pop influence, similar to earlier works of his former band, Dispatch. The songs, "Burning the River" and "Carry You", were often played together with Dispatch, and "Carry You" was re-recorded for a Dispatch record. Other songs on the album remain in live rotation, such as "Father Rose" and "If I May." {{Citation needed|date=February 2024}}
