"Song of the Dawn" was a 1930 song, first introduced in the musical film King of Jazz. The song was originally written for Bing Crosby, who lost the part to John Boles, another actor in the film, due to Crosby being jailed for a motoring offence.{{cite book|last1=Giddins|first1=Gary|title=Bing Crosby - A Pocketful of Dreams - The Early Years 1930-1940|date=2001|publisher=Little, Brown & Co.|location=New York|isbn=0-316-88188-0|pages=[https://archive.org/details/bingcrosbypocket00gidd_0/page/208 208]–211|url-access=registration|url=https://archive.org/details/bingcrosbypocket00gidd_0}}
