South End is the tentatively named and planned light rail infill station in Charlotte, North Carolina. The at-grade dual side platforms are to be a stop along the Lynx Blue Line, serving South End and reconnecting the nearby Dilworth and Brookhill neighborhoods. At an estimated cost of $24 million, CATS expects the station to open in 2028.{{cite news |last1=Bruno |first1=Joe |title=CATS proposes new South End light rail station |url=https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/where-will-next-light-rail-station-south-end-be/3ED7WMIMPNBFVEMEJD5OCI7WF4/ |access-date=12 August 2022 |agency=WSOC-TV |date=August 10, 2022}}{{cite news |last=Bowyer |first=Caroline |url=https://www.qcnews.com/charlotte/south-end-residents-excited-for-new-light-rail-stop/ |title=South End residents excited for new light rail stop |date=November 13, 2024 |publisher=Queen City News |location= Charlotte, NC |access-date=November 16, 2024}}
Location
The station will be located on the Blue Line tracks between New Bern and East/West Boulevard stations,{{cite news |last=Kuznitz |first=Alison |date=September 13, 2021 |title=A new light rail station is coming to Charlotte's South End. Here are possible spots.|url=https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/politics-government/article254210368.html |work=The Charlotte Observer |location= |access-date=September 14, 2021}} The platforms are in a split configuration, with the northbound platforms behind Publix and the southbound behind Sycamre/Atherton Lofts. Part of the reason for the selectred station site is to provide a safe level crossing to access the grocery store from the north side of the tracks, as jumping the gates to cross the railway line had become an issue.{{cite news |last1=Marlborough |first1=Monica |title=CATS is looking for public input on plans to develop new light rail station in South End |url=https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/local/cats-seeks-public-input-on-south-end-light-rail-station/275-2d031335-8e6f-47c5-b299-a725222a38a0 |access-date=12 August 2022 |agency=WCNC Charlotte |date=August 9, 2022}}
