South Hayling is a village and former civil parish on Hayling Island, about 5 miles from Havant, in the Havant district, in the county of Hampshire, England. History
South Hayling was formerly called Southwood{{cite web|url=https://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/hants/vol3/pp129-134|title=Hayling Island|publisher=British History Online|accessdate=21 October 2021}} suggesting the island was once heavily wooded, the disappearance of the woodland may be the reason the name was replaced with "South Hayling".{{cite web|url=https://documents.hants.gov.uk/landscape/historic-settlement/SouthHaylingHistoricRuralSettlementpublication.pdf|title=South Hayling|publisher=Hampshire County Council|accessdate=22 October 2021}}
