It is managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust.{{cite web|url= https://sussexwildlifetrust.org.uk/visit/southerham |title= Southerham Farm |publisher= Sussex Wildlife Trust |accessdate= 16 August 2019}}
The thin and infertile soils on this chalk site result in a floristically very rich grassland. Plants which flower in the summer include horseshoe vetch, kidney vetch, mouse-ear hawkweed, field scabious, dropwort and salad burnet.{{cite web|url= https://sussexwildlifetrust.org.uk/visit/southerham/reserve-profile |title= Southerham Farm Reserve Profile |publisher= Sussex Wildlife Trust |accessdate= 16 August 2019}}
