The Spitfire Kings is a Royal Canadian Air Force musical group which was formerly a small ensemble of the Royal Canadian Air Force Band. History
The ensemble was formed in 2014 as part of the CF Music Branch's effort to introduce more contemporary music in Canadian military bands.{{Cite web|url=http://www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca/en/article-template-standard.page?doc=spitfire-kings-soar-at-alert/ib6armk3|title=ARCHIVED - News Article {{!}} Spitfire Kings soar at Alert|last=Government of Canada|first=National Defence|date=2015-06-25|website=www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca|access-date=2020-01-07}} It was founded by Sergeant Mike Hall who originally joined the Canadian Forces in 2009 and was inspired to create a new musical group in the RCAF Band after performing in Afghanistan with a civilian band. The group then grew from Hall to a max of 6 musicians. Since then, the group has performed shows at the Grey Cup, the intermission of the 2016 Heritage Classic,{{Cite web|url=https://www.nhl.com/video/the-spitfire-kings--caf-night/t-277350912/c-4418836|title=The Spitfire Kings {{!}} CAF Night|website=NHL.com|language=en-US|access-date=2020-01-07}} and the Canada Games.
