Gameplay
The player progresses through levels in Splice by rearranging groups of cells into target structures.{{cite web|last=Musser|first=Cody|title=Splice: Tree of Life Review|url=http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/12/splice-tree-of-life-review|work=IGN|date=12 September 2012 |accessdate=1 July 2013}} The player has a limited number of moves (or "splices") to create each target structure; finishing a level in the fewest moves possible unlocks an "Angelic" achievement result.{{cite news|last=Walker|first=John|title=Impressions: Splice|url=http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06/18/impressions-splice/|website=Rock Paper Shotgun|date=18 June 2012|accessdate=1 July 2013}} Over the game's seventy-seven levels, the player will encounter power-up cells with special abilities (for instance, cells that destroy themselves and their children).{{cite web|last=Lewis|first=Stephen|title=Splice|url=http://jayisgames.com/archives/2012/06/splice.php|work=Jay Is Games|accessdate=6 June 2013}} The player must learn to use these increasingly complex cells to form increasingly complex target structures.
