St. James's Bridge ({{langx|sl|Šentjakobski most}}) in Ljubljana is a bridge that crosses the Ljubljanica River on the southern end of downtown Ljubljana, next to Zois Manor. It links Zois Street ({{lang|sl|Zoisova cesta}}) and Karlovac Street ({{lang|sl|Karlovška cesta}}). The most important city traffic artery across the Ljubljanica runs across it.{{cite book |url=http://www.geopedia.si/?params=T105_L7452_F1329#T105_L7452_F1328_x462106_y100550_s17_b4 |chapter=Šentjakobski most |trans-chapter=St. James's Bridge |title=Prestolnica Ljubljana nekoč in danes |trans-title=A Pictorial Chronicle of a Capital City |work=Geopedia.si |first=Marko |last=Habič |publisher=National Publishing House of Slovenia |year=1997 |isbn=86-341-2007-4}}
Background
A wooden bridge was constructed at this place in 1824, later than other bridges of the period, and for a long time it was therefore called the New Bridge ({{langx|de|Neue Brücke}}). In 1915, it was replaced by a reinforced concrete corbel bridge by the engineer Alois Král and the architect Alfred Keller. It was described by the art historian Damjan Prelovšek as a "monumental neo-Biedermeier architectural language of late-Secession Vienna."{{cite web |url=http://www.visitljubljana.com/en/directory/sights-attractions/1705/detail.html |title=Šentjakobski most |trans-title=Šentjakob Bridge |access-date=25 May 2012 |publisher=Ljubljana Tourism}}
Since 1954, there has been a plaque with an inscription on the bridge about a 15th-century town watermill, which caused damage to farmers and was destroyed in the 1515 peasant revolt.{{cite news |url=http://www.rtvslo.si/tureavanture/podobe-slovenije/med-mostovi-slovenske-prestolnice/200845 |title=Med mostovi slovenske prestolnice |language=sl |trans-title=Among the Bridges of the Slovene Capital |newspaper=MMC RTV Slovenija |first=Renato |last=Bric |date=28 March 2008}} Four bronze relief plaques depicting scenes from The Water Man, a Ljubljana-related Romantic ballad by the poet France Prešeren, were intended to be put on the fence of the bridge.{{cite news |url=http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-XE0PVBOX/?&language=eng |title=In memoriam S.M.
