St Barbara's Church is in Earlsdon, a suburb of Coventry, West Midlands, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Coventry, South, the archdeaconry of Coventry, and the diocese of Coventry.{{Citation|url=http://www.achurchnearyou.com/earlsdon-st-barbara|title=Earlsdon - St. Barbara's, Earlsdon|accessdate=29 August 2012|publisher=Church of England}} The church was built in 1930–31 to replace a smaller church nearby. It was designed by Henry Paley of the Lancaster architects Austin and Paley, with a local man, Herbert Jackson, acting as clerk of works and consulting architect.{{Citation|last1=Brandwood|first1=Geoff|last2=Austin|first2=Tim|last3=Hughes|first3=John|last4=Price|first4=James|year=2012|title=The Architecture of Sharpe, Paley and Austin|publication-place=Swindon|publisher=English Heritage|pages=183, 253|isbn=978-1-84802-049-8}}{{Citation|url=http://www.stbarbarasearlsdon.org.uk/history_of_st_barbara%27s.htm|title=History of St Barbara's Church|accessdate=29 August 2012|publisher=St Barbara's, Earlsdon}}
The foundation stone was laid on 28 September 1930 by Sir Alfred Herbert, a local industrialist, and the church was consecrated on 26 September 1931. Due to a lack of finance, the church was never completed, the missing parts being the western 2½ bays, two porches, a baptistry and a bell turret. The total cost of the church was £17,644 ({{Inflation|UK|17644|1931|r=-4|fmt=eq|cursign=£}}),{{Inflation-fn|UK|df=y}} of which £975 was donated by Sir Alfred to build the Lady Chapel as a memorial to his late second wife Florence (m. 1913, d. 1930), widow of Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. E. Lucas.{{Cite ODNB|title=Herbert, Sir Alfred Edward (1866–1957), machine tool manufacturer|url=https://www.oxforddnb.com/view/10.1093/ref:odnb/9780198614128.001.0001/odnb-9780198614128-e-48619|access-date=2021-10-18| date=2004 |language=en|doi=10.1093/ref:odnb/48619| isbn=978-0-19-861412-8 }}
